Holding Onto Hope

One of the greatest misconceptions about the ministry family is that they "have it all together". The husband is a perfect companion, ever tending flawlessly to the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of his family. The wife, well, she is the model for the Proverbs 31 woman, eager to serve selflessly, and in optimum condition at all times to carry the load of her husband, her children, and, of course, the needs of the ministry. And those children obey their parents faithfully, are gifted with talents they never worked for, and free from daily drama and mood swings.

While many of the above may very well be true on a consistent basis in your family, they certainly don't come without a cost. Ministry families live real life, too. They face hard times. Marriages are tested. Children stray. Panic attacks are often uninvited guests. Sickness, pain, and disease raise their ugly heads to attack the ministry family in incomprehensible fashion, at times.

Where is God in all of this? Why isn't He protecting His faithful laborers?

Throughout May we will feature firsthand accounts of women who've faced their own seasons of pain, wrought with doubt and confusion, but who held tightly to the Hope that can only be found through Jesus Christ.
