Love Does

This week we continue with WEEK FIVE of our Sanctuary Summer Book Club. Today we feature a review from Sanctuary team member and ministry wife Pam King on Bob Goff's Love Does. Remember: a drawing will be held at the close of the week from those who have read the review and comment below the post. We will be giving away a copy of this week's featured book!

Welcome to the Club!

Each chapter in the book Love Does begins with a quote by Bob Goff, the author. Here are just a few of these thought provoking, attention getting statements.

"I used to think I had to act a certain way to follow God, but now I know God doesn't want us to be typical."

"I used to think I had to act a certain way to follow God, but now I know God doesn't want us to be typical."

"I used to think being loved was the greatest thing to think about, but now I know love is never satisfied just thinking about it."

"I used to be afraid of failing at something that really mattered to me, but now I'm more afraid of succeeding at things that don't matter."

"I used to think I could shape the circumstances around me, but now I know Jesus uses circumstances to shape me."

Love Does is one of those books that you don't want to put down; you can't put down. The author, Bob Goff, has become somewhat of a legend but you probably have never heard of him. I hadn't heard of him until a few years ago. He is one of the "world's best kept secrets".

The adventures that Bob writes about his life in this book will reel you in like none other. The book will make you laugh like you have never laughed before. I mean you can't help laugh out loud. You will laugh, cry, and be convicted all at the same time. Bob Goff loves effortlessly and God's love flows through him.

Love Does is hilarious, inspiring, insightful, and one of my best reads ever. The author will teach you how to love and how to put hands and feet to your love. I especially love this quote from him: "You know what it is about someone that makes them a friend? A friend doesn't just say things; a friend does."

I can't wait to read his next book Everybody Always (see Casey Grave's review of this!). It also has a video series that I am contemplating using for a Bible study. His wife, Maria, has written a book entitled Love Lives that my daughter is reading. She says it is a great book also.

Make Love Does the next book on your list to read.
